India secures return of fugitive drug kingpin from the UAE
On August 14, 2026, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) took custody of wanted fugitive Virender Singh Basoya at Delhi airport following his extradition from the UAE. Basoya was arrested in the UAE in June 2026 pursuant to an INTERPOL Red Notice issued at the request of the NCB. His extradition was facilitated through coordinated efforts by the authorities of India and the UAE.

New Qatar-India postal remittance service launched
The Qatar-India postal remittance service, based on PosTransfer and powered by UPI, became operational on August 15, 2026, enabling customers in Qatar to send funds directly to UPI-enabled bank accounts in India through Qatar Post outlets. The service was developed through collaboration between Qatar Post, India Post, the Universal Postal Union’s Interconnection Platform, and NPCI International Payments Limited.

India exports mustard honey from Tripura to Dubai
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever export of one metric tonne of mustard honey by the Dergang Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) from Tripura to Dubai. The export creates new opportunities for local beekeepers and farmers to access international markets through organised, export-oriented production.

India address concerns over the welfare of Indian workers in the Gulf
In response to questions in the Rajya Sabha, concerning the conditions of Indian migrant workers in the Gulf countries, the Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh reiterated the Indian government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in the Gulf. The minister also outlined various measures and welfare schemes in place and their implementation, including grievance-redressal mechanisms, dedicated Labour Wings, Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendras, One Stop Centres for women in distress, the Indian Community Welfare Fund, and the Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana.
